It can be really simple process in making a decision … and eat something, sit on the couch and watch something, lay on the bed for a nap, get in the car and go for a drive … you know exactly what I mean …
It’s so easy to make those kinds of decisions!
On the other hand is making those decisions a way to avoid whatever needs to be done … like preparing the food for a healthy meal snack, the assignment that is due on Monday at 9am, that 20-30 min walk you promised yourself, reading 10 pages of the personal development book …
Making A Decision That’s Life Changing …
Making a decision can be daunting when you know change needs to happen, your imagination starts to run wild with opposition to any such process … there are the ‘not good enough’s’, ‘not worthy enough’, the sheer overwhelm of what is required to make any change …
The sub-conscious screams NO you don’t want to do that and here is the proof … insert memories of failure, disapproval and too much effort involved in really reaching for and attaining your Goals and Dreams … making a decision that’s life changing soon gets packed away and forgotten …
… Until the next time …
There is going to be a next time, because life is funny like that … when you don’t do what you need to at the appropriate point in time … it comes back in another way with greater intensity … until you make the change or it is made for you!
For instance, you’re over weight and you have been told that you need to drop a little weight because your medical says you are at risk of diabetes … you blow off the message you have been given and say it will never happen and you get used to feeling a little unwell as normal …
Only six months later you’re feeling more than just a little unwell now and you are told by your physician you have to follow a specific diet because you are now pre-diabetic and will need medication if you continue … now you listen but don’t really follow the specific diet and …
Turn up in the ER because your insulin production has gone completely haywire and you are now on full blown medication with the threat of loosing your eyesight permanently.
Do you see what I mean now by if you don’t start making the decision to change, it comes back again to remind you until the decision is made for you …
Making a decision that is life changing …
… Starts with a thought, then you choose if you want to act on that thought. If you take up the challenge … write it down, make it completely clear in your mind to follow through with it in detail.
Next, feel it in your body, being at the final outcome … whatever it feels like to you … Warm, cool, does it have an aroma that makes you feel cozy or is it something that creates a new beginning and new memories. Are you surrounded in colours or is there a low ambient mood lighting … is there a crowd, loud music, waves crashing in the background … who is with you or are you enjoying this on your own.
Making a decision can be so much fun!
Now there are two things I like to have when I make a decision to do, be or have something … and that is a plan and an accountability person!
You now know what you want … so make a plan to create your outcome … tweaking what you do now.
If it means you get up 30 mins earlier do it …
If it means you have to read for 20 mins a day to learn something new … Do it,
If it means you need to be more active for 60 mins a day … Get It Done …
Have someone to share it with and to kick you in the behind if you lose faith in yourself or you get side tracked or it just gets too hard!
Have someone that you trust to tell you the truth, makes sure you follow through, is will to not be liked for a few days … Besties are great for this and … if you have a movement or menu goal to improve your health and wellness … you can rope them in to join you! It makes for a whole lot more fun!
